The ADVANCED training camp is designated for secondary school teachers. The camp is designed for teachers who instruct beyond introductory cybersecurity courses in high schools.
The application submission closed on April 25, 2026.
Applications will be evaluated and selected on a rolling basis. The application will be open until the camp is full.

Virginia Tech and the Virginia Cyber Range will host a DECRYPT camp to support secondary school teachers who teach introductory cybersecurity topics. The camp is sponsored by the DOD Senior Military College Cyber Institute. Instruction focused on cybersecurity topics such as cryptography, networking, and the Linux command line, along with discussions of ethics, cybersecurity careers, Artificial Intelligence, and emerging topics. Hands-on labs will use the Virginia Cyber Range to demonstrate the topics and how they can be taught in your school.
The DECRYPT camp includes:
- Pre-camp webinars.
- One-week camp on the Blacksburg campus of Virginia Tech (housing provided).
- Some meals are provided.
- Travel allowance of up to $200.
- A $1,000 honorarium for completion of all portions of the camp.
